Kara and Adam: Armathwaite Hall Hotel

By | Wedding Video | No Comments

A couple of years ago I filmed Sarah and Phil’s wedding at New House Barn in the Lakes and it was Sarah who was to be Kara’s bridesmaid at Armathwaite Hall.

I don’t want to make it sound as if the rain follows me around like a best friend but this was another of those days when it just poured for most of the time. Again, I have to say that Kara and Adam did exactly what you’re meant to do – just say ‘that’s how it goes’ and get on with it. Brollies at the ready it was out in the raindrops with Camilla Lucinda Photography for a great, if slightly damp photoshoot.
Lots of extra guests for the evening dance with DJ Dancing in the Dark and live music with the excellent Highly Strung

Sarah and Andy: Grange Hotel. Grange over Sands

By | Wedding Video | No Comments

Sarah and Andy’s wedding was on a beautiful sunny winters day at Grange Hotel with Mike at Eden Valley Photography.

Sarah had given me fair warning about just how nervous a groom Andy was likely to be so the microphone was hidden away in the table flowers and not in his jacket! He was fine once the ceremony was over and he could relax.

Great night time dance with local band ‘Absolutely’ – I seem to think Andy’s nerves had disappeared altogether by then.

Grace and Josh: Roundthorn Country House

If you drive up the M6 to Tebay and then over the moor to Appleby, take the road to where ever until you reach 3 miles passed nowhere you’ll eventually come to the tiny village of Duffton where Grace and Josh had their wedding in the Methodist Chapel.
Once they’d paid the children enough money to be let back out of church – Cumbrian tradition involving lots and lots of string and rope, they headed off to Roundthorn Country House at Penrith for the reception.

Lucy and Cain: Merewood Country House Hotel

By | Wedding Video | No Comments

A great day that started out at Lucy’s house for some bridal prep shots before heading off to St Mary’s church for the service. Cain and family arrived from the pub over the road – very traditional 🙂
The bridesmaids and Lucy arrived by campervan and once everything was signed, sealed and done, it was off to the Merewood Country House Hotel for the reception. A quick stop off at the lakeside for some beautiful photos on the jetty before the official family shots back at the hotel with photographer Steven Bailey.
First dance featured a slide show of growing up photos – lots of awws and ahhs and laughter.

Music Festival Theme for Lake District Wedding

By | Wedding Video | No Comments

The day started out in a fairly conventional way with a bridal preps shoot at The Riverside Hotel in Kendal. Kirsty and her bridesmaids having a glass of fizz and a laugh as they readied themselves for the big event. Kate arrived from Made in Flowers and the excitement level started to rise, lots of opportunities for photographer Lorraine Oats. Downstairs the boys nervous banter was going well and then it was off out into the street.

Kendal Register Office is a five minute walk along the riverbank and the sun had started to shine as the Gareth and his groomsmen headed out for the ceremony followed by the guests. Ten minutes later the bridesmaids followed on and then Kirsty and her dad. It was one of those times when I wondered if filming on my own was such a good idea – running back and forth along the path between each group.

Once the ceremony was completed the fun began, the double decker bus arrived from Cumbria Classic Coaches and the journey over Shap Fell and along to the northern end of Ullswater began where a music festival themed reception was waiting for the party to start – complete with festival stage, mud, fish and chips and lots and lots of friends, dancing and singing. A real one off special occasion.Safe Harbour Wedding Video Production

Helen and Dan: Inn on the Lake

By | Wedding Video | No Comments

One of those ‘will it/won’t it stay dry’ kind of days. Unfortunately for Helen and Dan it just wouldn’t clear in time for the ceremony and sometimes that’s the way it goes – it’s the lake District after all ! Managed to get everything else outside though. Jason Chambers made the most of the improving weather to catch some great photographs and later in the day took time out for some beautiful ‘location’ shots later in the day. The refurbished Ramblers and Candleroom looked good for the evening dance.

Barry and Heather: Merewood Country House

By | Wedding Video | No Comments

I’ve often driven along the coast road between Ulverston and Barrow and looked up at the little church that sits on the hill at Bardsea but never filmed there until now. Once you’ve squeezed your way through the narrow lane that leads to the even narrower village street, Holy Trinity church sits high up overlooking the vast expanse of Morecambe Bay.

Barry takes my prize as the quietest groom I’ve ever had to film. Thank goodness for those wonderful little lapel micrphones 🙂 But once the ceremony was over he started to relax a little. Photographer Tiree Dawson had the great idea of going for ice creams down on the shore and it gave them both a chance to chill for a while as well as an opportunity for some bride and groom shots.

The Merewood Country House Hotel always seems to run like clockwork without any fuss or bother. The sun kept shining and everyone was happy – what more would you want. The evening drew in with some very competitive Jenga games on the terrace and then the band kicked in with ‘I’ll tell my Ma’ and the dance floor suddenly filled with whooping and cheering Irishmen and women and that was that – the night had truly begun !

Ashleigh and Michael: Inn on the Lake

I do love a Geordie wedding – always full of good humour. A beautiful day at Inn on the Lake and working alongside Jason Chambers again.

The ceremony was at Patterdale church, just down the road from the hotel, overlooked by the fells and it always gives a warm welcome to everyone. Then back to Glenridding for drinks and photos with that fabulous backdrop of Ullswater and Place Fell. The day was far from over, after the wedding breakfast it was down to the jetty for a cruise on the lake with Ullswater Steamers – dancing onboard of course, it’s a Geordie wedding remember.

Back to the Candleroom for more dancing – great day, even got a hug and a kiss from Granny 🙂
