Grace and Josh: Roundthorn Country House

By | Wedding Video | No Comments

If you drive up the M6 to Tebay and then over the moor to Appleby, take the road to where ever until you reach 3 miles passed nowhere you’ll eventually come to the tiny village of Duffton where Grace and Josh had their wedding in the Methodist Chapel.
Once they’d paid the children enough money to be let back out of church – Cumbrian tradition involving lots and lots of string and rope, they headed off to Roundthorn Country House at Penrith for the reception.

Lucy and Cain: Merewood Country House Hotel

By | Wedding Video | No Comments

A great day that started out at Lucy’s house for some bridal prep shots before heading off to St Mary’s church for the service. Cain and family arrived from the pub over the road – very traditional 🙂
The bridesmaids and Lucy arrived by campervan and once everything was signed, sealed and done, it was off to the Merewood Country House Hotel for the reception. A quick stop off at the lakeside for some beautiful photos on the jetty before the official family shots back at the hotel with photographer Steven Bailey.
First dance featured a slide show of growing up photos – lots of awws and ahhs and laughter.

Chris and Siobhan: Gibbon Bridge Hotel

Quite often, when I’m driving around, I’ll see a church or a venue where I’ve never filmed before and think – ‘that would be nice to work there’ St Margaret’s Church in Hornby is one of those places – I think it’s the octagonal tower that does it. Top hat and tails for the boys, always a good source for photos and film.
Siobhan lived right next to the church – but had a car anyway. The bridesmaids and Mum just walked 🙂 A really nice reading in the service – I used it for the highlights. After the ‘down the aisle’ bit they had a few minutes peace and quiet outside the village shop then the confetti flew and it was off to Gibbon Bridge for a sunshine filled afternoon. Great speeches, great dance to a live band.

Georgina and Tom: Iscoyd Park

A few years ago I filmed a wedding over in Barrow and that bride then passed on my name for her friend who was getting married in Cheshire and in 2016 I was back in Cheshire again to film her sister’s wedding – it’s nice how things work out.

St Helen’s church is set in the middle of Tarpoley and the small town was decked out in bunting for the annual fair when Tom and his best man arrived in a classic car for the ceremony. Crowds of well wishers stood at the gates waiting for Georgina who rolled up in her Dad’s 2 seater Morgan. After a lovely service with some special readings it was down the aisle to be met with confetti and doves (not all together)

Iscoyd Park is on the border of England and Wales just outside Whitchurch. It’s a beautiful exclusive use venue set in it’s own grounds, even has a cricket pitch next door just to add to the peaceful rural feel.

Barry and Heather: Merewood Country House

I’ve often driven along the coast road between Ulverston and Barrow and looked up at the little church that sits on the hill at Bardsea but never filmed there until now. Once you’ve squeezed your way through the narrow lane that leads to the even narrower village street, Holy Trinity church sits high up overlooking the vast expanse of Morecambe Bay.

Barry takes my prize as the quietest groom I’ve ever had to film. Thank goodness for those wonderful little lapel micrphones 🙂 But once the ceremony was over he started to relax a little. Photographer Tiree Dawson had the great idea of going for ice creams down on the shore and it gave them both a chance to chill for a while as well as an opportunity for some bride and groom shots.

The Merewood Country House Hotel always seems to run like clockwork without any fuss or bother. The sun kept shining and everyone was happy – what more would you want. The evening drew in with some very competitive Jenga games on the terrace and then the band kicked in with ‘I’ll tell my Ma’ and the dance floor suddenly filled with whooping and cheering Irishmen and women and that was that – the night had truly begun !

Ashleigh and Michael: Inn on the Lake

I do love a Geordie wedding – always full of good humour. A beautiful day at Inn on the Lake and working alongside Jason Chambers again.

The ceremony was at Patterdale church, just down the road from the hotel, overlooked by the fells and it always gives a warm welcome to everyone. Then back to Glenridding for drinks and photos with that fabulous backdrop of Ullswater and Place Fell. The day was far from over, after the wedding breakfast it was down to the jetty for a cruise on the lake with Ullswater Steamers – dancing onboard of course, it’s a Geordie wedding remember.

Back to the Candleroom for more dancing – great day, even got a hug and a kiss from Granny 🙂
